In an effort to help you determine what size of self storage unit you need, inventory your goods and fill in the amount of each article you wish to store in the form below. Then click the Calculate button at the bottom of the form to get an estimate of the cubic feet you'll need to store your items.
This calculation assumes your articles are fully stackable. Somewhat more space may be required for aisles to permit access to all items.
*Note: This is only a rough estimate. The actual amount of self storage space you need will depend on the actual items you have, how accessible you want them to be and the way you utilize your storage space. Excellent packers can achieve as much as 80% - 90% storage space utilization. Inexperienced packers may only achieve 50%.
5 X 10 (450-500 Cubic Feet)
A couch and a chair, chest of drawers or dresser, mattress set, plus small items and boxes. Outdoor furniture, lawn mowers, garden tools, etc. Bicycles and/or motorcycles.
10 X 10 (900-1000 Cubic Feet)
Furniture from a one-bedroom to two bed apartment without appliances, also small items and boxes.
10 X 20 (1800-2000 Cubic Feet)
Furniture from a two-bedroom house with appliances, miscellaneous items and cartons. Also may be used to store a car or truck and other small items.
10 X 30 (2700 Cubic Feet)
Furniture from a three-bedroom house with miscellaneous items and cartons. Will hold content of a 40 ft. moving van. Also may be used to store a car or truck and other small items. Boats or RV's and some furniture and cartons, depending on the height of the garage doors.
Volumes are approximately 200 cubic feet per standard room & furniture, if you have 9' - 10' ceilings.
